Lab Work

My research foci since August 2021 and January 2022 are respectively detailed here. All mentioned projects are currently ongoing and are in developmental stages.

Water-rock Interaction Laboratory

Undergraduate researcher and data specialist for Dr. Brantley since August 2021.

Researching the relationship between porosity and valley fractures in inducing brine migration in unconventional Marcellus shale gas reservoirs of Northwest Pennsylvania. Acquired skills include competence in ion chromatography and protocol for acid-washing glassware.

Data specialist inputting geochemical data on Pennsylvania water samples for PA DEP and competent in using R Studio for computational data mining on the Water Quality Portal.

Investigating Long-Term Effects of Removing The McCoy-Linn Dam on Benthic Macroinvertebrate Communities in Spring Creek, Centre County, Pennsylvania

The objective of this project, to be completed Summer 2022 under Dr. Ferreri with a grant from the College of Agricultural Sciences, is to determine if there are any long-term effects induced by removing the McCoy-Linn dam in Spring Creek of Centre County, PA.

I will be exploring whether there is a difference between free-flowing and impounded stream sections prior to removal of the dam (May 2007) and if those differences persist in the short-term after removal (May 2008) or in the long-term (May 2022). This project will be presented at the Gamma Sigma Delta research exposition in the Spring of 2023.
